Premier America Credit Union Empowers Young Entrepreneurs at Lemonade Day
HOUSTON, TX – August 5, 2024
Premier America Credit Union, a leading regional not-for-profit financial cooperative, proudly sponsored Lemonade Day Houston, a dynamic program dedicated to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit in area youth. Lemonade Day, a nationwide initiative, empowers children to start, own, and operate their very own business – a lemonade stand.
During the week-long event, 21 enthusiastic children participated in free financial wellness classes covering entrepreneurship topics such as marketing strategies, profit / loss analysis, and product development. The culmination of their hard work was showcased on Friday, July 26, when the young entrepreneurs set up three lemonade stands in the Woodlake Square Shopping Center.
The creative young minds designed their own stands, creating menus with competitive pricing, and added unique touches like edible glitter to their recipes. Despite the rainy weather, the new entrepreneurs collectively earned an impressive $440 in just three hours.
Porche Kimble, Houston Branch Manager, expressed her pride in the young entrepreneurs, noting, "The kids were persistent and full of energy. Their innate entrepreneurial spirit is ready to fuel our local economy and drive positive change."
The proceeds from their hard work will be put to meaningful use, with plans to save for clothes, treat their mentors to lunch, or donate to West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM).
